Irish Music Competition
Irish traditional music players of all ages are cordially invited to participate in the 2007 Phoenix Feis Music Competition, Saturday, October 20th, at 12:00pm. Amateurs only.
Participants may select any Irish traditional tune of their choosing from any of the following: air, jig, slide, reel, polka, hornpipe, march, or set dance. Participants may also choose to play a set of tunes (i.e, a jig set or reel set).
There will be a 3 minute limit per performance.
Ajudicator: Cormac O'Se
The competition will have four different categories. All instruments are welcome.
- Vocal
- Instrumental Strings - fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, bouzouki and harp
- Instrumental Winds - tin whistle, flute, uillean pipes, piob mhor
- Instrumental Other - piano accordion, concertina, piano, two row button accordion, bodhran
Each category will be divided into two different divisions, junior and adult.
Junior Division:
- up to age 12
- ages 12-15
- ages 16-19
Adult Division:
- Beginner: Less than 2 years experience
- Intermediate: 2-4 years experience
- Advanced: 5 + years experience
Use the solo form available at feisworx.com as the online entry form for the music competition. Same day registration will be open from 7:30AM to 11:00AM. Entrants will be asked to complete an additional form prior to competing. Only one entrant per category. Entry fee is $5.
